The Indian construction equipment market, after a slowdown linked to the trend of the national economy, recorded a growth of 13% in 2015, and should also improve in the next two years, reaching +15% in 2017 (estimates by Off-Highway Research). These growth expectations largely depend on the large number of public works that the government has already started and on those that will soon be unblocked, as envisaged in the 2012-2017 five-year plan which has allocated 1 billion dollars for urban and infrastructural development of the country. The Indian economy as a whole continues to grow by more than 7% a year and it is estimated that it will accelerate over the next five years.
In Bangalore, in southern India, Excon opens tomorrow, the exhibition of machinery and technologies for construction scheduled until November 29th. The event, now in its eighth edition, has established itself as a point of reference for the machinery and equipment sector for the entire southern Indian continent. Confindustria Modena, Unacea and SaMoTer have organized the Italian pavilion which will host 19 companies on an area of over 300 square meters.
The Italian pavilion will host the following companies: Bianchi Casseforme, Casagrande, Cobo, Cosben, Demac, Esti, Hbs Valves, Mantovanibenne, Mix, Nordimpianti System, M3, OP, Palmieri, Safim, Schnell, Simex, Trevi Benne, Varvel, Vis Hydraulics . “By organizing the Italian collective at Excon since 2005, we have been able to see its growth path, which has been very rapid and has brought this event to first place in India in terms of size and importance – said Giovanni Messori, director of Confindustria Modena -. Today India is showing data of a strong recovery of imports from Italy and our goal is to guarantee companies strong visibility on the market and all the tools to establish a constant presence in the sub-continent”.
According to Giovanni Mantovani, general manager of Veronafiere, "2015 saw the Ministry of Economic Development formally recognise, through the Made in Italy Extraordinary Promotion Plan, the role of trade fairs as a business lever for Italian companies and the country system: it is a structured activity with a logic both of incoming selected buyers and operators to the main exhibitions of real international level that take place in Italy, and of presence abroad in aggregate form among the main players in the exhibition sector to concentrate the target on target markets. Continuing to work in a logic of collaboration between the trade fair organizer and trade associations with interests in specific sectors of the Italian manufacturing industry, today means highlighting to the institutions the real possibilities for further development of small and medium enterprises with great added value for the economy, the territories where they operate and employment and make them part of a program that begins more and more concretely to consider the values in the field and the concrete needs of the actors of the real economy".
As for India, "with over 1,2 billion inhabitants, it is undoubtedly a country with important development prospects, especially in terms of infrastructure", commented Paolo Venturi, president of Unacea. "We participate in Excon as an association of Italian manufacturers - he added - because we believe it is crucial to support the internationalization of construction machinery companies, leading them to exhibit in an aggregate and clearly visible manner, especially in companies that may prove to be driving forces for our exports" .
