Hydrogen, Sit beyond gas: bring your meters to Cop26

Hydrogen, Sit beyond gas: bring your meters to Cop26

Use thegreen hydrogen also for domestic uses instead of natural gas. This is the goal of the Paduan multinational, sit, which together with the British Government's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has installed these sustainable meters in 100% hydrogen houses in Gateshead (North of England) to concretely demonstrate the "residential" use of the hydrogen (e.g. hobs, water heaters, heating). Currently “hosted” within the BEIS stand in Glasgow on the occasion of the United Nations climate conference, the Cop26.

"Using hydrogen instead of gas is a virtuous behavior because hydrogen is sustainable," he said Federico de' Stefani, Chief Executive Officer of Sit -. Our commitment was to develop meters that were "hydrogen-ready" or ready for use with hydrogen, when this becomes available for boilers as well: in this case the certified installer technician will be able to switch from the use of natural hydrogen gas. The costs for hydrogen devices will be very similar to those for gas and nothing will change for the user in terms of use. What will change are the benefits, the user will become part of the "hydrogen revolution", actively contributing to a more sustainable world".

Contributing to a greener planet has become Sit's mission, strongly renewed in 2019. In particular, accelerating the process of coal exit, the measurement of energy consumption and the control of climatic conditions possible thanks to its products, thus the Venetian company has taken an active and proactive role in the fight against decarbonization and waste in the use of gas and water.

Furthermore, Sit has been collaborating for several years with BEIS in the experimentation for the use of hydrogen systems within Hy4Heat. This is a British government program in which the Group has taken part from the outset "as a world leader in the development of safety valves for boilers as well as a manufacturer of meters", reads a note.
