Today Generali announces the launch of Generali Vitality, the innovative health and wellness program designed to encourage and reward the healthy behavior of customers who desire a healthier lifestyle. Generali has a continental Europe exclusive on the programme, which will initially be available to customers in Germany from 1 July.
Generali Vitality in Germany will be offered to new customers who take out term life or occupational disability coverage as an optional program linked to the policy. Through the use of a simple and smart digital program, customers will be incentivized to achieve their goals and do what they can to make healthy choices and lead healthier lives. With the adoption of this innovative program, Generali changes the very nature of life insurance by involving our retail and corporate clients in a journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
Philippe Donnet, CEO of the Generali Group, commented: “Insurers have a fundamental role in protecting their customers when things don't go as they should, but at Generali we believe that prevention is just as important an aspect of the role we play in the life of the our customers. The objective of the Generali Vitality program is to encourage our customers to live better and choose a healthier lifestyle, creating value for them and for society as a whole.
Anyone who wants to improve their health and well-being can count on this innovative program, regardless of the starting situation. Generali Vitality is another example of our strategy, which aims to create simple and intelligent solutions, fully digitized and designed according to customer needs."
The Generali Vitality journey begins when customers define individual physical well-being goals, tailored to their personal situation, through an online assessment. Based on the science of behavioral economics, Generali Vitality customers are supported in achieving personal health and fitness goals through a three-step approach: know your health, improve it and reap the benefits. The program is open to all new clients, regardless of their health status, and they decide what data to provide to track progress towards individual goals.
The benefits and discounts have been designed to encourage 'healthy choices' and are offered by a variety of Generali Vitality partners including: Adidas, Fitness First, Garmin and Weight Watchers. It is not only fitness and exercise that are encouraged, but also other healthy activities such as having medical check-ups, quitting smoking and maintaining a good diet.
Generali Vitality offers a unique and effective solution that creates value for both customers and society by improving health and reducing healthcare costs. Vitality is a global program developed in partnership with South African company Discovery Ltd, with over 3,6 million members in 13 countries worldwide, including Great Britain, the United States and Australia. It is a scientifically tested program, built on 20 years of experience and supported by leading academic institutions such as Harvard University and Duke University.
In Germany, Generali Vitality will be offered to new customers who take out term life or occupational disability cover with Dialog Lebensversicherungs-AG or Generali Lebensversicherung AG. Each country in which the Generali Vitality program will subsequently be extended will study an ad hoc offer, in line with the reference market and local strategy.
