In recent days first the Belgians, then the Dutch announced the cancellation of the order for high-speed trains - Both the Belgians and the Dutch have announced that they want to have the already paid part returned - Ansaldo Breda had accused the railways of the accident which gave rise to the controversy

Finmeccanica will guarantee support to the subsidiary Ansaldo Breda and to its employees in the affair relating to the contract for high-speed trains for the Amsterdam-Brussels section, a contract contested by the clients. This is what we read in a company note on the occasion of the press conference convened by Ansaldo Breda to clarify his position on the matter.

In the press conference, the managing director of Ansaldo Breda, Maurizio Manfellotto, said that, "in the face of unfounded and illegitimate" complaints from the clients, the Italian company "has decided to request compensation for all direct and indirect damages of image that we will have to face”. Finmeccanica, 100% shareholder of Ansaldo Breda, "while trusting in a positive outcome of the case, confirms its commitment to support Ansaldo Breda in initiatives aimed at protecting the work of employees, the interests and the image of the company", it reads in a note.

In recent days before the Belgians, then the Dutch announced the cancellation of the order of trains high speed. Both the Belgians and the Dutch have announced that they want to get back the part already paid (37 million for the Belgians, 120 for the Dutch) of the order. Ansaldo Breda had accused the railways of last January's accident, which gave rise to the dispute, for having "recklessly and irresponsibly" driven the train at excessive speed during a heavy snowfall.
