An Italy to go crazy! The Azzurri eliminated Spain at the end of an amazing performance thus giving themselves a thrilling quarter-final against Germany. We'll start underdogs again on Saturday evening in Bordeaux, but this time with the awareness that we can do it: in fact, after what we saw yesterday, nothing can really scare us anymore. We were faced with the reigning champion team, full of overpaid champions and with more titles on the bulletin board than any other national team in the tournament, yet the difference was seen only in our favor.
In fact, the 2-0 final is even tight for us and Buffon's save in the final on Piqué only serves to remind us that we too, albeit in a different way, are rich in talent. However, the cover is once again taken by Antonio Conte, a true great proponent of what is becoming to all intents and purposes a European to be framed. Our Italy plays like a club, with tactical automatisms and organization almost unthinkable on the eve, it also knows how to suffer and grit its teeth like no one else. In short, on the team there is the signature in large letters of the most gritty and prepared technical commissioner in Europe.
“I knew the boys had something important inside – he explained after the match. – Now let's enjoy the victory and then we'll think about Germany: an even tougher match than this one awaits us on Saturday. In any case, we have shown that we are not just a bolt and that ideas can sometimes beat talent".
It was just like that, from the very first minutes. The Azzurri literally crushed Spain physically and tactically, trapping them in their own half for almost the entire first half. Chiellini's goal (33') came after several chances created in the face of the Iberian cosmic void, testifying to a match prepared to perfection down to the smallest detail.
The second half, thanks to a physiological decline in athletics, saw us retreat a little more but only after having thrown away sensational goals for the 2-0 (especially Eder's), what, perhaps, would have made us live a more serene ending. But this Italy is made to suffer, not to manage matches on velvet, and so the last few minutes saw us go back to the trenches.
On the shields a great Buffon (his save on Piqué is monumental) but also Insigne: the Neapolitan, who recently replaced Eder, served Darmian with a wonderful throw, giving way to Pellé's 2-0 (91 '). Action very similar to the one against Belgium, coincidentally another superior opponent to us (on paper of course) beaten with full merit. Saturday we will touch Germany and while remaining down to earth we think of the famous saying of "there are no two without three" ...
