Four other regions are tinged with yellow. From Monday 3 January Lazio, Lombardia, Piedmont e Sicilia greet the new year in yellow zone and are added to Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Marche, the Province of Bolzano, the Province of Trento and Veneto. While this color shift doesn't change much for citizens since the only difference, theobligation to wear a mask outdoors, had been canceled with the latest decree that came into force close to the Christmas holidays and the super green pass which effectively blurred any difference. But the change represents a clear signal of how the Omicron variant has also hit our country like a "tsunami".
As for the incidence, all the Regions and Provinces are over the threshold of 50 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants - the parameter that triggers the yellow - according to data from the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection. The other thresholds are exceeded by Lazio with 16% and 18% of intensive care units and beds, Lombardy with 13% and 18%, Piedmont with 16% and 20% respectively and, finally, Sicily with 11% in intensive care and 20% in hospitalizations.
If on the one hand the Regions and Provinces in yellow increase to 11, on the other there are those risk orange from January 10: ligura, Calabria , Province of Trento. We remind you that the orange zone is reached if the thresholds of 20% and 30% respectively for intensive care and ordinary hospitalizations are exceeded. And the incidence must exceed 150 new cases per 100 inhabitants per week. Here, however, the rules change: for travel with your own vehicle from the municipality of residence to other municipalities or outside the Region, the basic green pass is required, or work, necessity or health reasons are required with the exhibition of the famous self-certification.
In the orange zone, at least for the vaccinated, there are no big differences. The new decree, in force since 10 January, has a much greater impact on all those who do not have the enhanced green certification. But the restrictions for those who refuse vaccination or carry on with the third dose won't end there. The date is already fixed Wednesday 5 January the Council of Ministers will meet again, with a new decree. And even if it's been a few days since new rules the trend of infections and the pressure on hospitals leave no room for choice: new squeezes and immediately.
