Confindustria, sparks for the Presidency: the Orsini case and the sword of Damocles of the judiciary on a controversial candidacy

Wise men have advised Orsini to withdraw his candidacy for the Presidency but the Emilian entrepreneur doesn't seem to want to hear of it. For now the four candidates for the Presidency remain in the running but the twists and turns are around the corner and the case puts the very credibility of Confindustria at stake

Confindustria, sparks for the Presidency: the Orsini case and the sword of Damocles of the judiciary on a controversial candidacy

The election of the next President of Confindustria it is not a gala lunch, as Mao would have said. Or if it is, blows worthy of a brawl between already tipsy sailors in a port tavern are delivered under the table. In particular, the blows come from one of the candidates, who was already savoring victory and who has been thrown back into high seas by the news about his past management of an important Confindustria federation (news first reported by FIRST online).

In fact, we read in the press that the wise men in charge of screening the candidates, before starting the tour among the members, were perplexed about the aspirations of the Past President of Federlegno Arredo, Emanuele Orsini, and advised him to withdraw his availability. It seems that Orsini hasn't taken it very well and has threatened to take legal action against anyone who stands between him and the coveted seat. Among the concerns of the wise men is the sword of Damocles of the judiciary, which will have to decide regarding the complaint that Orsini himself has filed against the current leaders of Federlegno Arredo. For now, Wise Men, the Ethics Committee and Confindustria arbitrators have admitted all 4 candidates to the race for the Presidency (Garrone, Orsini, Gozzi and Marenghi), but twists remain just around the corner.

Three questions for a Presidency

At this point they arise spontaneously three questions.

  1. Can Confindustria, whose credibility is at an all-time low, risk that the magistrates' decision is adverse to Orsini and forces him to resignation, if he had been elected president of the industrialists in the meantime?
  2. A candidate can be elected to the presidency of such an important business association who seems willing to shatter, with his legal appeals, the Confindustria election procedure, denouncing little interest in the fate and image of the association itself and much instead in its own ambitions?
  3. How would Confindustria handle a candidate who does not seem to accept the wise men's invitation to step aside for the common interest? The risk is a fierce showdown, which Viale dell'Astronomia really doesn't need.

Questions to which we cannot give a certain answer, aware of the fact that what is real is rational.
