Economic and financial analysis of the company

Swatch was born in 1983 with the merger of two Swiss companies ASUAG e SSI extension. It assumed its current name in 1998 (until then it was called SMH Swiss Corporation for Microelectronics and Watchmaking Industries Ltd). ASUAG had been founded in 1931, SSIH a year earlier, from the merger of Omega with Tissot. When the two companies went into crisis, Nicolas G. Hayek, president and owner of the company Hayek Engineering, decides to take them over by merging the two companies. For the launch and birth of the new brand, a SWISS MADE quality watch is designed at an affordable price; the Swatch was born.

Swatch thus achieves its worldwide fame as a gem of the watch industry thanks to the leadership of Nicolas G. Hayek. His innovative ideas were role models for the entire Swiss watch industry and played an important role in the industry's renaissance.
