Government-Railways agreement: high speed arrives at airports

An agreement will be signed tomorrow in Rimini between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Fs to "strengthen the endowment of railway infrastructure linked to the airports". This is what we read in a joint statement from the Fs and the Ministry of Transport, released on the occasion of the Friendship Meeting underway in Rimini. The agreement will be signed by Minister Maurizio Lupi and by the CEO of Fs Michele Mario Elia.

"Trenitalia will prepare a study on the new high-speed connections to and from the three airports (Rome Fiumicino, Milan Malpensa and Venice Tessera, ed.) identifying the most requested connections with the main Italian cities and the frequency of connections", reads the note that he adds that the ministry "will analyze, by 28 February 2015, the plans drawn up by FS Italiane and will define the guidelines for starting the planning, also identifying the financial resources available".

In the agreements between Etihad and the government for entry into Alitalia, the UAE company had also requested a strengthening of high-speed trains to and from the main Italian airports.
