From the September 21 next the digital ticket for regional trains it will be validated automatically. It will no longer be necessary to check in online. The news from Trenitalia comes earlier than had been communicated in previous months.
What changes?
In a press release from the Italian State Railways Group it is stated that the ticket will be validated from the system itself to the scheduled departure time. The aim, in fact, is to facilitate travellers and reduce the risk of forgetting to validate the ticket online before departure. With the ticket available on your mobile phone, “the travel experience becomes simpler and more sustainable, in addition to the possibility for passengers to receive information about the trip on their device,” the company announces. This does not prevent users from choosing to travel with a paper ticket.
What remains unchanged
Passengers will still be able to make unlimited changes to their travel date and time until 23:59 on the day before departure. On the same day of travel, the time can continue to be changed flexibly and without limits, as long as this occurs before the scheduled time of the chosen train.
