Previously, the monthly bonus was limited to 80 euros. From today, there is no longer a roofMore extra baggage held, more incentives at the end of the month. "We want our ground handling staff to catch those who try to circumvent the rules," said O'Leary, reiterating the goal: to comply with the rules without penalizing those who travel legally.
Ryanair's baggage rules
Ryanair has already loosened its restrictions ahead of possible EU directives:
- Free hand luggage: small, fits under the seat, maximum 40x30x20 cm (24 litres, up from the previous 40x25x20 cm, 20 litres).
- Second hand luggage: small trolley, maximum 55x40x20 cm, at a reduced rate compared to checked baggage.
- Oversized luggage: hold boarding with a surcharge of up to 87 euros.
O'Leary emphasized that the majority of passengers (99,9%) comply with the rules, while only about 0,1% (about 200 passengers per year) pay gate fees.
