Here are the top new releases in theaters, so you know what to see this weekend.
TO BE SEEN
Trainspotting 2.
It's impossible not to start here, with a film that arrives in theaters after years of rumors, indiscretions and denials and, for the many who loved the first film, after more than twenty years of waiting.
same director, Danny Boyle, which, after the explosion with the first chapter of the film, has alternated sensational holes in the water such as In Trance with Oscar-winning films (generous) such as Slumdog Millionaire. And the same cast, from Ewan McGregor to Robert Carlyle, passing through Johnny Lee Miller. Twenty years after one of the great cult films of the 90s, Renton and the others are back on stage, older, but not wiser.
The film is inspired by "Porno", the fictional sequel to Trainspotting, also written by Irvine Welsh.
The Great Wall
Hollywood's attempt to combine Western and Eastern tastes, and to further tighten the productive ties between US cinema and Chinese cinema, opening up to the potentially richest market in the world, is undoubtedly a major commercial operation.
But also a film of sure interest. The director is Zhang Yimou (Red Lanterns, Hero, The Forest of Flying Daggers), one of the most talented and famous, even in the West, among the authors of the fifth generation of Chinese cinema. The international cast is made up of very high-profile actors such as Matt Damon, Andy Lau, Willem Dafoe, Pedro Pascal, Tian Jing, Eddie Peng.
And from a visual and action point of view it seems to promise very well, despite the too much rhetoric.

Jackieby Pablo Larrain.
The story of the life of Jackie Kennedy, the most iconic first lady in US history (waiting to see how Michelle Obama will be remembered), in the seven days following the murder of her husband JFK, in Dallas, with an Oscar-winning Natalie Portman.
Blessed Ignorance
Massimiliano Bruno returns to directing, after the success of The last will be the last. Another comedy, which attempts to tell a current theme such as social networks and the addiction that arises from them, through the clash between two high school teachers (the social addicted Gassman and the "old school" Giallini"), forced by the viralization of video of their quarrel to exchange lives to support their thesis.
Barrier, by and with Denzel Washington.
Based on the play of the same name by August Wilson, awarded with the Pulitzer in 1987, and brought back, with enormous success to the theater a few years ago with the same interpreters of today, Denzel Washington and Viola Davis above all. The limit is that of a theatrical piece lent to the cinema. The advantage is that you can see phenomena such as Davis and Washington (Oscar candidates), without having to fly to Broadway, but comfortably at the cinema near home.
COLLECTIONS
In terms of receipts, there was a clear winner in the week between 13 and 19 February. This is Fifty Shades Darker which, also driven by Valentine's Day, took home €5.693.145.
Followed by Mamma e Papà, which landed in theaters with good success, with over 2 million euros, the French Ballerina with € 1.229.536, La La Land, which continues to score good receipts (€ 842.949) and Lego Batman – The film with €826.986.
