It will be a difficult August for passengers who choose the train to travel across the country. Trenitalia, the parent company of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group, has announced a series of infrastructural upgrading works on various Italian railway lines. These interventions, aimed at improving the frequency and quality of the service, will lead to important changes to the circulation of long-distance trains, including high-speed lines. High speed Milan-Bologna line

From 12 to 18 August, the AV Milan-Bologna line will suffer a partial interruption, resulting in an increase in travel times of up to 120 minutes. In the following week, from 19 to 25 August, there will be speed reductions. These changes will especially affect Frecciarossa trains on the Turin-Milan-Rome-Naples-Salerno route, with extensions of journeys and cancellations. Furthermore, three Intercity and Intercity Night trains of the Milan/Florence-Rome/Syracuse connections and vice versa will be diverted onto the conventional line between Orvieto and Chiusi.

Direct line Florence-Rome

From 12 to 23 August, the Chiusi-Orvieto section of the Direct line Florence-Rome will be interrupted for waterproofing works on the Paglia viaduct. In the following days, 24 and 25 August, the line will undergo speed reductions. This will lead to timetable changes, cancellations and route diversions for Frecce and Intercity trains, with increases in travel times of up to 80 minutes.

High speed Milan-Venice line

The works for the construction of AV/AC Milan-Venice line they foresee a total interruption on the Verona-Vicenza route until August 20th, followed by slowdowns until August 26th. These changes will lead to limitations, cancellations and route diversions, with increases in travel times of up to 90 minutes from Venice to Milan and 150 minutes in the opposite direction.

Bologna-Prato line

The Bologna-Prato will be continuously interrupted until 8 September in the Pianoro-San Benedetto section for adaptation works. Trains will be canceled and replaced with buses. There will also be timetable changes and diversions via Falconara or via Tirrenica Nord for some Intercity and Intercity Night trains.

Alpine passes
