They risk not stopping at the stop signs and therefore causing serious road accidents. For this reason Tesla recalls nearly 54 vehicles sold in the United States. The vehicles involved are sedans Model S and SUV in production from 2016 to 2022, the sedans Model 3 produced between 2017 and 2022 and Model Y produced between 2020 and 2022. The problem is always the same: a software malfunction Full Self-Driving (Beta).
It was not the company that turned the spotlight on the case, but theAmerican Traffic Safety Authority (Nhtsa), which intervened after some reports on social media.
Elon Musk's company has made it clear that the program does not command the vehicle to come to a complete stop if it does not detect other cars, pedestrians or cyclists near the intersection. Tesla agreed to recall the vehicles after two meetings with the US regulator.
For the electric car giant it is the second recall within a monthTesla had recalled more than 475.000 Model 3 and Model S models at the end of December due to problems with the rear view camera and trunk.
The company stressed that as of January 27, it was unaware of any warranty claims, accidents, injuries or deaths caused by the malfunction that was the subject of the latest recall.
