Friday 14th October will be held throughout Italy one national general strike lasting 24 hours. All sectors (public and private, including schools) will be involved, but as always the greatest inconveniences are expected in local public transport. The mobilization was called by the trade unions Cub (Unitary Confederation of Base) and Sgb (General Base Union).
The times of the strike vary according to the sector and the city.
In Rome, the public transport company Attack he did know that the inconvenience for citizens will last “for 4 hours, from 20.00 to the end of the service. The protest will concern buses, trams, subways, Rome-Lido, Rome-Civitacastellana-Viterbo and Termini-Centocelle railways. In this case, however, we are talking about a second four-hour strike proclaimed by the CGIL, CISL, UIL and Ugl trade unions in support of the citizen mobilization which will affect all the companies owned by the Municipality of Rome.
As it regards instead the other strike, the 24-hour one, will affect both the network Attack that the peripheral buses of the Rome Tpl. In this case the guarantee bands will be respected (from the beginning of the service to 08.30 and from 17.00 to 20.00).
Summing up, for the combination of the two strikes Attack will not guarantee the service in the following time slots:
- in the night between 24 and 25 October relating to the night network (lines n);
- in the night between 24 and 25 October relating to the night network (lines n);
- on 25 October from 8.30 to 17.00;
- on 25 October from 20 pm to the end of the service;
- during the night of 25/26 October in relation to the ABC metro, the tram line 8 and the daytime lines that operate extended hours until 2.00.
In addition to Atac, as mentioned, all the other companies owned by the Municipality of Rome will also stop: from AMA (which manages waste with great difficulty and inefficiency even under normal conditions) a Rome Metropolitane.
As for Atm, counterpart of Atac ma in Milan, the strike will be divided into two time slots: from 8,45 to 15 and from 18 until the end of the service.
The employees of the peripheral lines of Monza (Net) and of the Como-Brunate funicular will also cross arms, but with different times than those of Atm.
For the lines operated by Net (Nord Est Trasporti), the unrest is expected in the City of Monza from 9 to 11,50 and from 14,50 at the end of the service for the Urban Service. For the Extra Urban Service the strike will be from 8,45 to 15 and from 18 at the end of the service.
For the Como – Brunate funicular the mobilization will last from 8.30 to 16.30 and from 19.30 at the end of the service.
We now come to the other means of transport.
The employees of state Railways will be able to join the strike from 21pm on Thursday 24 October to 21pm on Friday 25th.
In the case of Alitalia, however, the strike will last for all 24 hours on Friday.
Finally, the workers of Enav (the body that manages civil air traffic) will stop from 13 to 17 on Friday and those of Anpac (the National Professional Civil Aviation Association) from 10am to 14pm the same day.
