Savings, according to Consob financial planning still not widespread among Italian families: only 6% in 2021

Italians have a financial education problem which is reflected in their savings and planning choices. A good education together with technological innovation and consultancy is Consob's recipe for transforming savers into investors

Savings, according to Consob financial planning still not widespread among Italian families: only 6% in 2021

La financial planning remains little widespread among Italian families, who for the most part continue to meet their needs in a very short-term logic, as needs related to the various phases of life arise, such as for example the purchase of a home, loss of income, retirement or a long illness. This is what emerges from the seminar of Consob “Financial Planning. Knowledge, attitude and behavior of Italian investors”, which explored some aspects of the eighth Report on the investment choices of Italian familiespresented on January 26th.

“Financial planning remains uncommon among Italians – observed the Consob Commissioner, Charles Comport, at the opening of the works -. This, he added, on the one hand "increases the vulnerability of households, i.e. the risk of not being able to meet unexpected expenses" and on the other "freezes the savings of Italians in non-productive jobs, consequently reducing the transfer of wealth towards the real economy”.

The situation, concluded Comporti, can improve by relying on financial education, on technological innovation, which can give greater awareness of the income and expenditure of a family budget, and on professional consultancy also oriented towards planning.

Financial education and technological innovation: Consob's recipe

A saver with a good financial education he will also be a more aware investor and therefore more prepared to take the first steps towards the allocation of his savings in the various financial instruments available.

Financial education should be a priority in schools, to allow young people to acquire greater awareness of the income and expenditure of a family budget. L'technological innovation, on the other hand, can help families better manage their money by providing tools for monitoring their accounts and planning investments. Finally, the advice professional can be a valuable support for those who do not have the knowledge or experience necessary to manage their wealth.

Financial planning is a fundamental practice to protect one's future and that of one's family. In a world where uncertainties are increasingly frequent, having a long-term vision is the only way to ensure economic stability e financial.
