They go up again interest rates on real estate loans. According to the latest monthly bulletin of the Bank of Italy, in December rates on loans to households for the purchase of homes, including ancillary costs, stabilized on average at 1,78 percent, up slightly from the 1,76% in November. Those on new consumer credit disbursements, on the other hand, reached 7,60%.

In detail, the interest rates on new loans to non-financial corporations amounted to 1,37% (from 1,29% in November), while those on new loans of up to one million euro reached 1,85% and those on loans of higher amounts stood at at 1,06%. Deposit rates on total deposits stopped at 0,37%.

On the disbursement front, in December loans to the private sector they grew by 0,1% over twelve months, as in the previous period. In particular, loans to households accelerated to 2,6% over twelve months (from 2,3% in November), while those to non-financial companies decreased by 1,9% (-2% in the previous month).

The deposits in the private sector grew by 5,3% over twelve months, against 7,6% in November. Bond collection instead, it decreased by 1,5% over the same period of the previous year against an increase of 2,3% in November.

As for sufferings, in December those of Italian banks decreased by 17,3% over twelve months. In the previous month of November, the reduction had been 23,5%. The slowdown, explains Bankitalia, is affected by "some securitization transactions that took place in the last year".
