Fashion: sales of men's clothing are on the rise

Based on the numbers provided by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italia in the first quarter of 2017, men's clothing recorded growth above the sector average, with percentages between 4% and 5%. – Above all, the recovery in exports is supporting the increases – Exports to Germany, the United Kingdom and Belgium are up, while those to South Korea and Hong Kong are flying.

Fashion: sales of men's clothing are on the rise

Fashion is not only for women, on the contrary. The men's sector continues to grow, recording ever higher percentages in Italy.

This is testified by the data released by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, on the last day of the Milan fashion shows for the presentation of the men's collections for next spring-summer. In fact, based on the numbers provided, in the first quarter of 2017 men's clothing recorded growth above the sector average, with percentages between 4% and 5%. Supporting the increases is above all the recovery of exports which recorded an increase of more than 5%.

Going into detail, while the domestic men's fashion market achieved progress of around +1%, Italian exports to EU countries achieved growth of +7%. Speaking of individual countries, the numbers recorded for Germany are excellent

(+13%) and the United Kingdom (+22%). Belgium (+11%) and Spain (+9%) did well. On the other hand, exports to France, although less substantial than to other countries, recorded a growth of +3,5%.

As far as non-EU markets are concerned, growth was equal to 2%. Sales to Asia increased (+11%), with a very substantial increase to South Korea (+28%) and Hong Kong (+20%), while the increase to Japan was more limited ( +3,5%) and also to China (+2,3%). A good result was also recorded in Russia (+21%). Lastly, exports to the United States also recorded moderate growth (+1,6%).
