In 45 days the will be inauguratedExpo 2015 in Milan, dedicated to the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" (May 31st-October XNUMXst). In addition to restaurants 130 and the contents of the dozens of national and company pavilions, international organizations and the 9 thematic clusters (arid areas, islands, the Mediterranean, rice, cocoa, coffee, fruit and legumes, cereals and tubers, spices) and the thousand initiatives that will enliven the 'Expo, the approx 20 millions of visitors expected will also be able to admire the best of the creativity of thecontemporary sustainable architecture.
From the Italian Michele De Lucchi, author of the Pavilion Zero which tells the memory of humanity through the history of food, and of pavilion of Banca Intesa San Paolo, a structure of almost a thousand square meters made with recyclable materials, to the archistar Daniel Libeskin who designed the pavilion of the Chinese real estate giant Vanke. Don't miss the Japanese pavilion by the Ishimoto studio, that of Spain by architects Fermin Vazques and the spectacular pavilion of the UAE States of the Englishman Norman Foster.
Very interesting also that of Kuwait, signed by the Milanese Italo Rota, and that of Bahraini, built by the Lombard Restaura on a project by the Dutch Holtrop & Vogel. Finally, inevitable, the enormous Italy palace by the architect Michele Molé of the Nemesi studio, all in the name of energy saving: a building capable of producing 50% of its energy needs.
The 4 thousand between engineers, architects, technicians and workers engaged in the mega-construction site of Expo 2015 are racing against time, with 24-hour shifts, to deliver everything in perfect order for the inauguration on May 2015st, making up for too much time lost due to organizational disputes and the well-known legal cases . Also completed is the symbol of Expo XNUMX: the tree of Life, 35 meters high with a crown of 45 in aluminum, steel and glass. It will rise in the center of the Lake Arena, a circular body of water 90 meters in diameter with several fountains.
As well as the Orange “seed”., in white marble from Monte Altissimo in the Apuan Alps, produced by the historic Henraux company, designed by the Sicilian sculptor Emilio Isgrò, born in 1937. Enlarged one billion five hundred million times, the "Seed" will be seven meters high. "Someone asked me why I contented myself with enlarging a tiny, almost invisible seed of four or five millimeters, neglecting ready-to-use Italic symbols such as the Colosseum or the Tower of Pisa - wrote Isgrò, presenting his work in the Corriere of the Evening of 8 March last. – But the Italian secret is all here: making small things big, not making big things smaller”.
Art, design, innovation and organizational skills: the Expo will be a showcase of the best that Italy has to offer, and not just in the field of food. Last February 25 we outlined the general profile of this extraordinary event. On March 6 with Enel e FCA-CNH and March 11 with Intesa Sanpaolo we have started the presentation of the essential contributions to the success of the event that the eight official global partners of Expo 2015 are offering.
Today we conclude the overview with Tim, Finmeccanica and Samsung.
TIM
Tim, Telecom Italia's mobile telephony company, will provide infrastructure and innovative technological solutions and will make its experience as an international operator available to welcome guests and participants from various countries. The partnership with Expo 2015 provides for Telecom Italia's support for the development of a sustainable and intelligent city – the Smart City of the future – of which the Expo Site will be an example. As part of the Expo Milano 2015 project, Telecom Italia will provide fixed network, mobile and IT infrastructures, supply latest-generation technological solutions, including mobile-payment and mobile-ticketing services and Smart solutions for visitors and Public Administrations, the development and management of the web portal, the management of operations and maintenance and the provision of connectivity and traffic services relating to voice and data.
FINMECCANICA
Selex ES, a Finmeccanica Group company, is the "Safe City & Main Operation Center Official Global Partner" of Expo 2015. To ensure the protection of the exhibition site, pavilions and Expo infrastructures and the safety of visitors and operators of the event, Selex ES created an operations center capable of monitoring and supervising the event in terms of surveillance and safety; a secure communications system for professional operators, based on TETRA technology; a network of security systems to offer effective protection of people, places and infrastructures.
The operations center is based on an architecture capable of processing heterogeneous information and will collect and correlate the data from the various sensors deployed in the field to transform them into an overall view of the exhibition context, integrating the information flows to make them usable to Expo 2015 operators. The overall picture – provided 24 hours a day – will thus be able to support decisions for the management and location of security personnel, for monitoring the exhibition area, for the prevention and management of any emergencies. Operations center employees will also be able to make use of an innovative 24D cartographic satellite representation, created thanks to the contribution of e-GEOS, a company set up by Telespazio (3%) and the Italian Space Agency (80%), specialized in products and applications for Earth observation.
The advanced graphical interface will allow a virtual immersion in the environment to be monitored, ensuring a better understanding of the scenario and therefore greater operational effectiveness. The control and safety operations center will be connected to the various subsystems present in the pavilions of those participants in Expo 2015 who have chosen to turn to Finmeccanica-Selex ES for safety management.
Secure communication systems are also part of the "security package" on which the Universal Exposition will be able to count: voice transmission based on TETRA technology, including over 400 terminals.
Finally, an articulated network of security systems in the field will monitor the orderly performance of all the activities of the Exposition. Video surveillance along the perimeter and inside the site (with around 1.000 cameras), over 1.000 smoke/fire detection sensors, more than 2.000 public announcement systems for emergency management.
SAMSUNG
Samsung Electronics, a brand present in 79 countries around the world, among the global leaders in consumer electronics, is Expo 2015's partner for so-called edutainment, educational entertainment that will allow visitors to explore the theme of the event through dozens of screens that will project games and interactive films.
