Starting from September they return Eurocity connections for Switzerland and Germany currently subject to limitations, suspensions and route changes due to the line interruption in the Gotthard Tunnel in force from 10 August 2023 and in the Simplon Tunnel in force from 9 June 2024. Eurocity connections return to Switzerland and Germany 

From September it will therefore be possible to reach cities such as Zurich in 3 hours and 17 minutes from Milan, and other destinations in Switzerland and Germany such as Geneva, Basel, Lucerne, Frankfurt, Bern, Lausanne, Lugano, Montreux, crossing the magnificent Alpine landscapes.

From Milan you will also be able to travel to Germany up to Freiburg, Mannheim, Ringsheim and Frankfurt. Switzerland is also connected to the Liguria andEmilia Romagna thanks to the Eurocity trains between Zurich and Bologna and between Zurich and Genoa, with the latter extended to Sestri Levante during the weekend, from 2 September to 27 October.

“The Eurocity connections are operated by Trenitalia, the parent company of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group, in cooperation with Swiss railway companies. The connections to and from Frankfurt also see the partnership with the German railways. Tickets can be purchased on all Trenitalia sales channels and authorized agencies", the company said in a note.
