- United States they launched a night new wave of raids against Iran, hitting dozens of military objectives of the Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran). The operation, confirmed by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), comes in response to the attempted missile attack launched by Tehran against American forces deployed in the Middle East.
“The attack is a powerful response to Iranian attempted attacks against U.S. bases in the Middle East,” Centcom said in a statement released on X, stressing that the goal is to reduce Iran’s offensive capability and protect U.S. forces, commercial maritime traffic and allies in the region.
US-Iran, Trump: "We'll finish this very soon."
The American president Donald Trump claimed the success of the operation and reiterated the hard line against Tehran. “We will finish Iran very soon,” he declared during a tele-rally, adding that Washington will hit Iran “very hard.”
The president claimed that the Iranian attempt to strike American bases was completely neutralized thanks to U.S. defense systems. "We shot down five rockets traveling at 8.500 kilometers per hour. They tried, now it's our turn," the US president said.
Centcom: "Dozens of military targets hit"
According to the US Central Command, the bombings affected dozens of military targets belonging to PasdaranThe targets included command and control centers, missile depots and launch sites, drone bases, surveillance systems, coastal defense posts, and maritime infrastructure. Washington said the strikes were aimed at further reducing the threat posed by Iran and its affiliated militias to American forces and commercial shipping in the Gulf.
The Pentagon also recalls that over 50 US soldiers remain deployed in the Middle East maintaining the highest level of alertness and operational readiness.
Iranian state media report that US strikes also hit the island of Qeshm, in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, and the city of Abadan, a major energy center in the south of the country. Iranian authorities have not yet released an official estimate of any casualties or damage caused by the attacks.
Wall Street Journal: 10-14 day raid plan ready
The offensive, however, may only be just beginning. According to the Wall Street Journal, in recent days the admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of Centcom, presented President Trump with a piano which provides 10-14 days of intense air raids with the aim of significantly reducing Iran's missile capabilities.
The American newspaper reports that the president is evaluating two options: continuing with targeted strikes or authorizing a broader military campaign, as proposed by the Central Command leadership, developed after the Iranian attack against American targets in the region.
The UN calls for a return to diplomacy
Faced with yet another escalation, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed strong concern about the risk of a widening of the conflictThe UN chief called on all parties to cease hostilities and resume dialogue, relaunching the mediation efforts promoted by Pakistan, Qatar and other regional actors.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high on the maritime front. The United States confirms it is continuing its control operations in the area. Strait of Hormuz, a crucial hub for global oil trade, while theSaudi Arabia is working on creating a international coalition to strengthen the safety in the Red Sea against the threats of the Houthi.
