Leonardo has completed the100% acquisition of Gem Elettronica, moving from 65% to full control of the Marche-based company. The operation strengthens the Italian group's role in radar systems and in technologies for monitoring and maritime security, consolidating its presence in the naval and coastal sector.
Thanks to full control, Leonardo will be able to more directly integrate its skills and activities, expanding its offering in the fields of surveillance and navigation. This sector has become increasingly important in recent years, especially given the increased focus on shipping and coastal security.
Leonardo Strengthens Naval Radar with Gem Elettronica
Gem Elettronica, with a turnover of over 45 million euros in 2025, operates precisely in this sector, developing solutions used in both the military and civilian sectors. Founded in 1977 in San Benedetto del Tronto, the company has established itself over time as a specialist in electronic systems for the naval sector.
The transaction therefore allows the Italian giant to strengthen an already established supply chain and leverage skills that have been present for years in the Italian industrial fabric, with potential benefits for employment and production.
The move is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening control over key activities and improving integration between the various components of the group. From this perspective, the objective is to support the development of new solutions and increase the competitiveness on international markets.
