Thierry Breton, the father of the European Digital Services Act, calls on the excessive power of US Big Tech and Trump's illiberal culture: EU, take action.

The denial of a U.S. visa to former European Commissioner Thierry Breton, the father of the Digital Services Act, is an unbearable provocation that sparks the U.S.-EU digital war and deserves a strong response from the Old Continent. Europe has already bowed its head to Trump on tariffs, but enough is enough: to err is human, but to persevere is diabolical.

Thierry Breton, the father of the European Digital Services Act, calls on the excessive power of US Big Tech and Trump's illiberal culture: EU, take action.

The former European Commissioner was denied a visa to enter the US, Thierry breton, is not only an unprecedented measure and an act of unbearable arrogance by America Donald Trump but it is above all the sign that between USA and Europe ladigital warfare, which was smoldering under the ashes, is now more open than ever. What is the fault that the Americans shamelessly accuse Breton of? That of being the father of the European directive of Digital Services Act which also requires the American Big Tech giants to be transparent about algorithms and advertising and to fight fake news by protecting users' rights and democratizing the digital ecosystem. It is obvious that the American giants Internet Accustomed to calling the shots, they see European rules as a thorn in their side, and the White House offers them support and finds yet another opportunity to attack the European Union on this ground. Breton rightly wonders if the Americans' behavior isn't a new form of "McCarthyism." It's time, however, that, faced with American provocations that incredibly accuse the Old Continent of censorship, they set aside the submissive attitude already demonstrated regarding the tariffs and respond in kind. How? By applying the diplomatic retaliation against America it deserves. For now, Europe's response is merely verbal, but that's no way. To err is human, but to persevere is diabolical.
