Volkswagen beats Toyota: she is the first in the world for sales

Volkswagen is the queen of car sales worldwide. In the first half of 2015, the German automotive group surpassed the Japanese Toyota which held the record since 2012. The cause is the sharp drop in Toyota sales in the Archipelago.

Between January and June, the Japanese manufacturer sold 5,022 million vehicles compared to Volkswagen's 5,04 million. The American General Motors, the world's third largest manufacturer, delivered 4,86 million cars. Toyota reported sales down 1,5% on the 11,5% plunge in Japan, where mini-vehicles were particularly hard hit by the sluggish economy.
