Eurasian Union, challenges and opportunities for Europe

Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus have created a common economic space: a market of 170 million consumers – The reference model is the European Union – The first international conference on the Eurasian Union is held on Wednesday 19 September in Rome – The opportunities for Italian investors.

Eurasian Union, challenges and opportunities for Europe

A new neighbor is taking shape. We are talking about the Eurasian Union which embraces the countries of the former USSR and which wants to become the new bridge between Europe and Asia. In January 2012, the common economic space between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus came to life: the first step towards greater integration which should materialize by 2015. The Eurasian Union is modeled on the European Union and promotes the reintegration of the post-Soviet space .

This is a significant change in the global geopolitical framework. The EU will find a similar and unitary structure on its northeastern border, a market of 170 million people. Energy producing countries such as Russia and Kazakhstan, and transit countries such as Belarus, will be united politically vis-à-vis the European economies. Furthermore, the removal of internal tariff barriers between the three Eurasian countries could open up unprecedented investment and trade opportunities for Italian operators.

The Institute of Advanced Studies in Geopolitics and Auxiliary Sciences (IsAG), under the patronage of Ministry of Foreign Affairs e Ministry of Economic Development and the support of Getting to know Eurasia and Russian Honorary Consulate in Verona, organizes an event to present the new reality to the Italian public and discuss the implications related to the birth of the Eurasian Union. This is the first international conference on the Eurasian Union held in a country of the European Union.

The conference is scheduled for Wednesday September 19 2012 from 10.00 to 16.30 in Rome, in the Sala delle Colonne of Palazzo Marini, complex of the House of Representatives, in Via Poli 19.
