From 10 to 15 June Fabriano hosts the XIII UNESCO Creative Cities Network Annual Conference, the most important international event of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which will bring together the mayors and delegations of the 180 cities of the world who have identified creativity as a strategic development factor.
In addition to the prestigious confirmation of the Italian President Sergio Mattarella, which will be present on 12 June, the number of members is constantly increasing. At the moment it is about 373 participants for 65 countries and 149 cities. For Italy there will be the mayors of Milan, Turin, Parma, Bologna and Carrara.
The meeting will give rise to a broad debate on the challenges facing cities in the XNUMXst century – environmental emergency, intolerance, loss of identity and sustainable development – and will represent a great opportunity to showcase the best of Italian creativity to the rest of the world. In this perspective, the event will be enhanced by the extraordinary exhibition of Leonardo's early masterpiece "The Benois Madonna" who returns to Italy after 35 years, on loan from the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. Creator and soul of the whole project is Maria Francesca Merloni, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Creative Cities.
