Terna obtained a line of credit from Wednesday 200 million euro linked to sustainability indices. Financing – a ESG linked term loan bilateral – is provided by Intesa Sanpaolo, who performs the roles of "original lender and sustainability coordinator", specifies in a note the group that manages the national electricity grid.
In detail, the line of credit will have maturity in two years e the interest rate will be linked to the trend of Terna's services in relation to a series of environmental, social and governance indices (esg).
It is not the first initiative of this type launched by Terna, which in July it had successfully placed a green bond, and then subscribe to two more ESG linked term loan, one for 200 and the other for 100 million euros.
The new operation therefore strengthens “the integration of sustainability objectives into the company's business strategy – continues the note – which aims to combine sustainability and growth through the bonus/penalty mechanism linked to the achievement of ESG objectives”.
The third line of credit linked to the sustainability indices "allows Terna to count on adequate liquidity for the current rating level - concludes the note - and confirms the group's strong commitment to introducing a model aimed at increasingly consolidating sustainability as a strategic lever for the creation of value for all its stakeholders”.
