In the heart of National STEM Week (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), promoted by the Ministry of University and Research, Leonardo e Leonardo ETS Foundation they turned the spotlight on bond increasingly close between scientific disciplines, defense and security.
In Rome, in Leonardo's new exhibition space in the Pratibus District, a institutional event which focused on major technological transformations and the role of STEM skills in responding to contemporary challenges, speaking directly to the new generations.
Institutions, industry and schools at the same table
The meeting brought together representatives of institutions, the industrial world and schools, in a dialogue designed to to overcome the traditional boundaries between education, research and practical applicationAmong others, the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities spoke Eugenia Roccella, Senator Isabella Rauti, Undersecretary of Defense, the Hon. Marta Schifone, the CEO of Leonardo Roberto Cingolani, Together with Helga Cossu, general director of the Leonardo ETS Foundation, ad Antonio Liotti, to the science communicator Alberto Angela and to the National Association of Principals, represented by the president Antonello Giannelli.
Also in the audience were fourth- and fifth-year high school students, who were the direct protagonists of the debate.
Human capital and conscious defense
At the heart of the debate is the awareness that scientific research and technological innovation are decisive levers for the protection of people, critical infrastructure and democratic values.
