In recent years the attention towards great wines, champagne and vintage bottles seems to become a real gold rush, but that of the God Bacchus.

More and more often international auction houses present in their program auctions dedicated to wines, cognacs and other "perfumes" of the earth, where collectors flock from all over the world in search of the best piece to win.

Last Saturday, December 1 Sotheby's New York offered the largest collection of Krug Champagne never in sight in a single well auction  530 bottles, magnums and "jeroboams" coming directly from cellars of the Maison Krug in Reims. The sale covered almost 40 years of Krug Champagne production with legendary vintages such as 1961, 1973 and 1982. All awarded for over 2 million and 600 thousand dollars.

After the refined '47 Mounton Rothschild, they follow: Romanee Conti 1995 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti  (estimate $42,500-60,000) Awarded to 79,625 USD; the same but from 1996 instead with an estimate of 45,000-65,000 USD and sold for 73,500 USD.

Highlights include five Krug never before released Grande Cuvées: Finesse, Richesse, Savoir-Faire, Fraicheur and Mémoires and a rare 1990 Krug Clos du Mesnil (Estimate: USD 20,000-30,000), fetching USD 42,875;

And again Chateau Mounton Rothschild (40,000-60,000 USD) sold for 58,188 USD; 1990 Burgundy Landmark La Tâche from RDC (Estimate: US$37,500-50,000) sold for US$67,375; 1989 Chateau Petrus (estimate $30,000-40,000) sold for $39,813.
