Rai has a new general manager: it's Mario Orfeo, current director of Tg1. He designated him in a surprise meeting of the Board of Directors of Viale Mazzini. Carlo Freccero abstained from the decision and proposed himself. The Treasury nomination is expected to arrive today. To replace Orfeo at the direction of Tg1 could be Antonio Di Bella, now at the helm of Rainews 24.
In fact, after an initial meeting of the board of directors, the shareholders' meeting is underway (99,56% owned by the Treasury, the remaining 0,44% is held by SIAE) which will be followed by a new meeting of the board which should proceed with the nomination. The procedure provides, in fact, that the general manager is appointed by the board of directors in agreement with the shareholder.
To have beaten everyone to the punch, announcing via Twitter that the decision had now been taken to relieve the outgoing General Manager, Antonio Campo Dall'Orto from the interim, was the former Minister of Communications (Berlusconi government) and today Senator of Fi- PDL Maurizio Gasparri:
