Saturday 14 April 2018, on the occasion of the twenty-third edition of Miart – international modern and contemporary art fair in Milan – inaugurates the fifth appointment of the IN PRATICA project, a cycle of exhibitions hosted in the law firm of the lawyer Giuseppe Iannaccone, in the spaces in which houses part of its collection of modern and contemporary art. After the presentation of the artists Davide Monaldi, Luca De Leva, Andrea Romano and Beatrice Marchi IN PRATICA continues with its intention of proposing, through a succession of small exhibitions, a continuous comparison between the works of artists already consecrated on the international scene present in the Collection and those of talented emerging artists, even if still unknown to the general public, invited for the occasion to conceive site-specific projects.
Saturday 14 April opens to the public for a special visit of the EX GRATIA studio, a collective exhibition of TEN YOUNG ALBANIAN ARTISTS in collaboration with ART HOUSE SCHOOL, born from an idea by Giuseppe Iannaccone, curated by Adrian Paci and Rischa Paterlini, with the special collaboration of Prof. Zef Paci.
On the occasion of miart 2018, the lawyer Giuseppe Iannaccone has decided to dedicate IN PRATICA #5 to a special project with the aim of making known in Italy the work generously created by Adrian and Melisa Paci in Scutari, Albania: that is, a school for artists. "What inspired me" - writes Giuseppe Iannaccone - "was the gesture of generosity that you, Adrian, made towards your hometown, Scutari, and towards the Albanian artists: thanks to the Art House School you in fact allowed ten of them to meet and make sure that they could share their experiences and discuss their work, without asking for anything in return, simply giving them the opportunity to live in contact with international level curators and critics”.
Art House is “A place” – says Adrian Paci – “that makes possible the transit of ideas where a private house opens up to the community of its own city and where the community of a small town enters into dialogue with intellectual and cultural contributions from the big world of art without losing the intimacy and close nature of the relationship”.
“Never before” – writes Giuseppe Iannaccone – “have I imagined that one day I would have invited ten artists at the same time to exhibit their works, yet now that I look at them all together I realize once again that when artists know how to touch the most intimate of man, a miracle almost happens. The moving beauty of Marc Quinn's handicap seems to speak the same language of love as Alketa Ramaj's video. The images of Brazilian boys portrayed by Jetmir Idrizi refer to the same research around sexual identity proposed by Nan Goldin's shots; the photographs taken from Stefano Romano's ephemeral actions dialogue with the firm figures of Massimo Bartolini; the gaze of the face captured by Silva Agostini recalls that trapped in the work of Dana Schutz. The red neon in Remijon Pronja's photo seems to contradict the sense of domestic intimacy that is also found in Paola Pivi's works; the delicacy of Bora Baboçi's drawings reappears in those made by Andrea Romano; Alket Frashëri's representations of the pagan or Christian divine accord with Luigi Ontani's pantheon of gods and mythological heroes; the landscapes of Lek M Gjeloshi recall those of Hernan Bas; Iva Lulashi's painting compares with that of Borremans; Fatlum Doçi's dreamy drawings recall the dreamscapes of Indian artists like Atul Dodiya.”
The idea of this project is well described in the precious volume that accompanies the exhibition, published by Mousse Publishing, in Italian, English and Albanian in which, in addition to the images of the works and artists who lived in the Art house in residence, collected are a conversation between Adrian, Zef Paci and the ten artists featured in the exhibition, and a special account of the journey undertaken by the curator of the collection in the Paci residence.
The exhibition was organized under the patronage of the Albanian Ministry of Culture and thanks to the contribution of Kooness for the audio and video materials, Romanò frames by Massimo Romanò for the frames and Open Care – services for art, FARE and ARKA for hospitality to the artists who will all be present on the opening day.
The exhibition can then be visited in the law firm of the lawyer Giuseppe Iannaccone from 15 April to 13 July 2018, by appointment only, for small groups of people.
