Who were Caesar and Augustus? What was life like in ancient Rome? What was it like to admire the monuments of the Forum in all their majesty? Piero Angela and Paco Lanciano answered these and many other questions by creating two shows that continue to fascinate spectators from all over the world. Every evening it is possible to undertake two suggestive Journeys in ancient Rome (available both individually and in combined form) immersed in the beauty of the Imperial Forums. The Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo, a space of the Theater Network in the Municipality of Rome directed by Veronica Cruciani, presents a preview of the 2016/2017 season: on Friday 26 August at 19 pm, the new and last appointment with the Retrospective on Matteo Garrone, during which it will be screened the film Gomorra, a film introduced by Ascanio Celestini. Saturday 27 at 21 the show The absolution will be staged, with Gianluca Riggi and Roberta Castelluzzo, a dialogue between two intellectuals around Giulio Andreotti, Tommasino Buscetta and other mafia bosses. On Sunday 28 August at 18 pm, the Compagnia delle Bollicine presents Fantasia di bubbles, starring Pedropan (Pietro Marchiori), a soap bubble man, and Bignè (Tiziana Di Norcia), a busy innkeeper. Tuesday 30 August at 21 is the turn of L'ammazzo col gas, hilarious comedy with two actors and dozens of characters with Roberto D'Alessandro and Danila Stalteri. Monday 29th August Esperimenti – GDO Dance Company presents the dance performance Monarch: Antigone. Choreography by Mattia de Virgiliis, dancers Valeria Decarli, Mattia de Virgiliis, Alessandro Fava, Eleonora Lippi, Elena Martello, Aran Garcia Perez, Martina Ragni, Daniele Toti. On Tuesday 30 August the Dragqueenmania Cultural Association presents The Girls of the Freak Show (splendors and miseries of the Bellaclave family), a show conceived, written and directed by La Karl Du Pigné, with the extraordinary participation of Chiara Pavoni. On Wednesday 31 August, three female dancers and six male dancers will be the performers of Hopera, a poetic and enthralling dreamlike journey through the famous arias and melodies of Italian and European Bel Canto, directed by Federica Galimberti. Thursday 1st September Pino Strabioli, in the company of two young actors and a very young accordionist, tells us about Sandro Penna, one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century. Strabioli will retrace his life with subtle irony, lightness and disenchantment, boldness and grace, in an evening that will also be a tribute to the great Paolo Poli. Monday 29 August, at 21 pm, special opening of the Globe Theater for the first appointment with Sonnets of love, conceived and directed by Melania Giglio (translation by Alfonso Veneroso and Melania Giglio). A journey among the most beautiful verses of William Shakespeare accompanied by a rich musical contamination: from Marvin Gaye to Amy Winehouse, from Leonard Cohen to Alanis Morissette. After 48 summer seasons at the Quercia del Tasso amphitheater (where the restoration works are continuing) the historic La Plautina company directed by Sergio Ammirata temporarily changes its venue, transferring its shows to Villa Lais, in the heart of the Appio-Tuscolano district. Here, in a welcoming amphitheater with around 200 seats, the event La Quercia del Tasso is proposed… this year it is at Villa Lais. On Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August, always starting at 21, the latest performances of La Locandiera by Carlo Goldoni will be staged, with Sergio Ammirata and Patrizia Parisi. A classic of Italian fiction, the most translated comedy in the world, which the Compagnia La Plautina has already successfully presented abroad: at the Cairo Opera House and at the Manoel Theater in Malta. Thursday 1 September at 11.30, with free admission, Food, poetry and regional traditions returns, a performance through which the Company aims to create a union between food and poetry, elements that nourish body and soul.
