In the first quarter of 2016, the Eurozone's GDP increased by 0,6%, against +0,3% in the last quarter of 2015. This was announced by Eurostat, which today begins publishing preliminary estimates thirty days after the end of reference quarter.
In the EU, on the other hand, the gross domestic product increased by 0,5% after the +0,4% in the October-December period last year.
On an annual basis, GDP increased by 1,6% in the euro area and by 1,7% in the EU after respectively +1,6% and +1,8% in the previous quarter.
A second flash estimate will be published approximately 45 days after the end of the reference quarter (with country-by-country data).
