Stock market, crazy rotation: Leonardo, banks and Eni the drivers


The optimism of the European stock exchanges triggered by the announcement by Pfizer-BioNtech on the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine. After yesterday's rally which brought the prices to the highest levels since March, Madrid e Paris they closed the second session of the week on the run, gaining respectively 3,38% and 1,55%. A little more shy Frankfurt (+0,6%) affected by the collapse of the German Zew index, which fell to 39 points in November from 56,1 in October, while London (+1,79%) seems to ignore the uncertainties arising from Brexit.

Milan, after an uncertain session, closes the day with a rise of half a point to 20.851, the highest level since the pre-lockdown period, driven by Leonardo's exploits and by the performance of banks and oil companies. 

On the other side of the ocean, it's going thwarted Wall Street with the Dow Jones rising and the Nasdaq and S&P 500 in the red. In New York, the stock rotation that began yesterday following the announcement of Pfizer (+0,7%) on the Covid vaccine which could receive the green light for emergency use in the United States within a month. Repositioning causes collapse Zoom, which after yesterday's -17% yields more than 10%, and also affects Amazon, which after -5% loses a further 3,2%. The main tech stocks are bad: Facebook (-4,4%), Google (-1,5%), ecosystem (-3,14%), while the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly (+4,2%) runs following the emergency approval for an experimental treatment based on monoclonal antibodies against the coronavirus.

The rotation is also felt on the Italian share, where it takes off Leonardo (+7,4% today, -52% in the last 12 months). Already yesterday, the shares of the Defense group had jumped by 16% in the wake of rumors, not denied, relating to a possible IPO of the US subsidiary Drs to be carried out in the first half of 2021. They run Unicredit (+5,17% on 10 November – 35,5% in the last year) e Intesa Sanpaolo (+4,44% and -20,7%), up sharply Eni (+4,07% today, -45,7% in 12 months) with the price of Petroleum which continues to rise (Brent +1,5% above 43 dollars a barrel).

Sales hit instead stmicroelectronics (-6%), Prysmian (-4,28%), Recordati (-3,14%) And Classic Ferrari for sale (-3,05%), while the decline of Diasorin (-1,37%) on the hypothesis that the arrival of Pfizer's vaccine could make the role of anti-Covid tests less relevant.

Turning to the bond, the spread between Btp and Bund it fell to 121 basis points (-1,28%) with the yield on the ten-year period at 0,726% (+4,76%), while on the currency front the euro/dollar exchange closed flat at 1,1854 points.
