The central administrations weigh above all on the increase. Declining in local authorities – In the first ten months of 2014 public debt grew by 87,7 billion.

Bank of Italy: PA debt grows, +23,5 billion in October

The public administration debt is growing, increasing by 23,5 billion euro in October, reaching 2.157,5 billion. This was revealed by Bank of Italy, which specifies that the increase reflects the requirement of the public administrations for 6,6 billion and for 17,8 billion the increase in liquid assets of the Treasury.

Looking at the sub-sectors, the debt of central government increased by 25,0 billion while that of local government decreased by 1,5 billion and that of social security institutions remained substantially unchanged. 

In the first ten months of the year, the public debt increased overall by 87,7 billion, reflecting the borrowing requirement of the general administrations (64,4 billion) and the increase in Treasury liquidity (31,7 billion). Overall, the issue of securities above par, the appreciation of the euro and the effects of the revaluation of BTPi contained the increase in debt by 8,4 billion. Financial support to the countries of the Eurozone weighed 4,7 billion on the borrowing requirement for the first ten months.

Also in October, tax revenues decreased, which stood at 28,5 billion, recording a decrease of 2,7% on an annual basis. In the first ten months of the year revenues remained substantially unchanged.
