Despite the triumph at the Europeans of Austrian Chancellor Kurz (34,9%), the far right of the Freedom Party (Fpoe: Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs), which up to two weeks earlier lo claimed, presented together with the Social Democrats the motion of distrust which was approved by the Austrian Parliament.
10 days after the scandal 'Ibizagate': the compromising video shot on the Spanish island that led to the resignation of Heinz-Christian Strache, vice-chancellor and number one of the far-right party Fpo. Kurz took the opportunity to exploit the allegations of corruptionand of the former vice chancellor to announce early elections and exclude from government i ministers of the Fpoe, to take absolute control of the executive.
Kurz, in office since the end of 2017, however, was surprisingly discouraged with 103 votes in favor of the 183 seats in parliament. The distrust came after the Popular Party (ovp: Österreichische Volkspartei), Kurz's party, achieved the best result ever.

Brigitte Bierlein (President of the Constitutional Court since 2017) was appointed by President of the Republic Alexander van der Bellen to form the transitional government who will remain in office until the early elections scheduled for September.
Bierlein, making i 70 years on 25 June, he will no longer be able to hold the position of president of the Constitutional Court due to having reached the age limit.
