Assogestioni: Mutual Funds: Italy Is the Second-Largest Retail Market in Europe

Assogestioni presented its update to the end of 2025 yesterday in Milan. of the annual Observatory on mutual fund subscribers in Italy, Edited by the Association's Research Office. The study, launched in 1996, has reached its 30th anniversary, becoming a landmark publication for the Association, enriched each year with new detailed data and insights.

Fabio Melisso, Vice President of Assogestioni's Communications Committee, opened the meeting with the following words: "The Mutual Fund Investors Observatory is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary and confirms its position as a valuable resource for the industry and for the debate on Italian household savings. Born as a tool to support members, over time it has become an increasingly comprehensive snapshot of Italians who invest in funds. It is a particularly important basis for analysis, also for the reflections that the asset management industry is called upon to make on structural dynamics such as longevity, demographics, population aging, and the development of the silver economy. Each year, the study is enriched with new insights, thanks to the work of Assogestioni's Research Office, which, with rigor, continuity, and innovation, provides the market with a unique knowledge tool."

The data updated at the end of 2025 – illustrated in the study signed by Alessandro Rota (Director of the Research Office), Richard Morassut (Senior Research Analyst, Research Office) and Giuseppe Bono (Junior Research Analyst, Research Office) – provide a comprehensive picture of Italian investors, a population that is growing in the wake of trends recorded in recent years, confirming the democratic nature of mutual funds as a savings management tool.
