Confindustria-Intesa Sanpaolo Agreement: 200 Billion for the Growth of Italian Businesses, 17 to Piedmont

It was held in Turin, in the headquarters of Industrial Union, the presentation meeting of the new agreement between Confindustria e Intesa Sanpaolo to support the growth of Italian businesses. The agreement, lasting four years, provides for a overall ceiling of 200 billion of Euro until 2028, Of which 17 billion intended for companies in Piedmont.

The protocol, the result of the agreement announced in January by the president of Confindustria Emanuele Orsini and the CEO of Intesa Carlo Messina, takes aim at the great global challenges: transition 5.0, artificial intelligence, life sciences, sustainability. And at a time when the economy is dancing between geopolitical tensions, trade wars and energy uncertainties, the answer is not the brake, but the accelerator.

Focus on aerospace: Piedmont aims high

The meeting was attended by representatives of the business and financial world. At the centre of the debate was the strategic role of aerospace sector, a sector which in Piedmont can count on an integrated and internationally competitive supply chain. Giorgio Marsiaj, Confindustria delegate for Aerospace, underlined: “Aerospace is not only the future, it is already an engine for Italy”. A sector that can boast an integrated supply chain, competitive at a global level and ready to take off further with “an ecosystem favorable to development”.

A perfect assist for Stephanie Ascione, Head of R&D Consulting and European Financing at Intesa Sanpaolo, who presented the measures designed specifically to incentivize hi-tech production sites and attract new investments in territories with a strategic vocation.

Targeted investments for key supply chains and competitiveness

The national program includes measures dedicated to investments in new high-potential production models, with particular attention to aerospace, energy and hydrogen, robotics, intelligence artificial e life sciences. Other priorities: accelerating the sustainable transition, promote thetechnological innovation, strengthen the governance , capital structure of companies, enhance the Six of the Noon and launch a Sustainable Living plan to support mobility and talent attraction.

“We have developed a program of solutions to support sustainable investments by companies of all sizes and promote their growth and competitiveness,” he explained. Stefano Cappellari, regional director of Piedmont North, Valle d'Aosta and Sardinia of Intesa Sanpaolo. “And thanks to the renewed agreement with Confindustria, which for Piedmont makes available 17 billion euros out of the total 200 at the national level, we will further strengthen the support for the production system of the region”.

Along the same lines Marco Gay, president of Unione Industriali Torino: “It is essential to strengthen the dialogue and collaboration between the production system and the financial system, to build a common path made of tools, skills and mutual trust. Turin, with its entrepreneurial fabric, is the ideal place to develop this collaboration and generate new value for the territory and for the country”.

Export, quality and resilience: the numbers of Piedmont

During the meeting John Foresti, Head of Regional Research Intesa Sanpaolo, illustrated the macroeconomic scenario, highlighting how Piedmontese export, although slowed in 2024, has maintained high levels (61 billion euros). Companies, according to Foresti, are focusing on quality, market diversification and investments in digitalization and sustainability. Among the most promising markets: India, the Middle East, South America. Investments in the region, between 2019 and 2024, increased by 37,4%.

The collaboration between Intesa Sanpaolo and Confindustria, launched in 2009, has already allowed 450 billion euros to be disbursed to the Italian production system. The new agreement represents a continuation of that path and a further step forward to accompany companies in the challenges of the coming years.
