Spain in stagnation: zero growth in the third quarter

The Spanish economy stalled in the third quarter. The Spanish National Bureau of Statistics has announced that the country is in stagnation. The news comes on the eve of Sunday's elections in which the popular Rajoy and the socialist Rubalcaba will compete.

Zero growth in the June-September period comes after growth of 0,4% in the former and 0,2% in the latter. On an annual basis, the gross domestic product grew by 0,8%. Growth was held back by the austerity policies imposed by the government which cut public spending.
