Zurich: former CEO Martin Senn took his own life

Martin Senn, the former CEO of Zurich Insurance Group AG, was found dead in his holiday home in Klosters after taking his own life. The Swiss company made it known in a note: "We are deeply shocked by the news of the sudden death".

Senn was 59 years old and had resigned from the leadership of Zurich last December, after the failed takeover of RSA, due to higher-than-expected losses. To replace him as CEO of the insurance group had been the former number one of Generali Mario Greco. Senn's is not the first tragedy of its kind at Zurich: in 2013 the then head of finance Pierre Wauthier took his own life.
