“There can be no dialogue with the current Russian leader, who has no future. We must recognize this obviousness''. This was stated by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram addressing the leaders of the G7, in the aftermath of the heavy missile offensive on Ukrainian cities. ''There may be talks just with another leader of Russia, respecting the UN Charter, the basic principles of humanity and territorial integrity of Ukraine, or in a different configuration, so that the terrorist leader does not have the opportunity to influence key decisions,'' he added Zelensky. “There is only one person right now it is blocking the peace, and this person is in Moscow,'' he concluded.

Zelensky at G7: "International mission on the Belarusian border"

During the G7 meeting, the Ukrainian president also solicited the support of member countries for his request for an international mission to monitor the border between Ukraine and Belarus. Zelensky he also asked the 7 leaders of the industrialized countries new sanctions against Russia, together with a ceiling on gas and oil exports from Moscow, and support for "adequate air defense", a kind of shield to defend the country from a resurgence of Russian military attacks. 

G7: "We will continue to impose costs on Russia"

The virtual meeting of G7 leaders under the German presidency lasted an hour and a half. According to a draft of the press release anticipated by the Bloomberg agency, the G7 "will continue to impose further economic costs on Russia and will be close to Ukraine for as long as necessary". The G7 also condemned the "acts of sabotage" at Nord Stream.

Moscow: Putin-Erdogan meeting confirmed on Thursday 13 October

The Russian president will meet his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan ad Astana Thursday 13 October on the sidelines of a regional summit in Kazakhstan's capital. Moscow announced it. "Preparations are underway for the meeting" between Putin and Erdogan, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. “The meeting – said Peskov – will be an opportunity to discuss the situation in Ukraine, bilateral relations and to exchange views on current issues”.
