Zanonato: “Pay all the debts of the PA in 2013? I don't know if it can be done"

As for development, it is necessary to implement “all those measures, and there are many, which bring our companies in line with the European ones in terms of credit, energy costs and bureaucracy simplification. First we need to bring down the tax wedge. If we manage to score a series of goals we can do it ”.

Zanonato: “Pay all the debts of the PA in 2013? I don't know if it can be done"

“I would love to, but I don't know if it can be done“. Flavio Zanonato, Minister of Economic Development, told “Radio Anch'io” in reference to the hypothesis of paying all the public administration's debts by 2013. “It's not bad will – he added – but there is a technical problem. The Government has removed the obstacle, now all the various sources of expenditure must take action to pay. We are monitoring."

According to Zanonato, “we must above all focus on those activities that develop our country. The solution can't be just financial, we need to aim at development", for this we need to implement "all those measures, and there are many, which bring our companies in line with the European ones in terms of credit, energy costs and simplification of bureaucracy. First we need to break down the tax wedge. If we manage to score a series of goals we can do it ”.

As for Egypt, “I spoke to Minister Emma Bonino to find out about the situation – said Zanonato -. There is an ongoing relationship with our ambassador. Alongside the concern for an exceptional situation there is also a very strong activity to protect our citizens. Egypt is an important country for us, we have an exchange of six billion euros. We are the first European country and the third in the world for trade with Egypt. We are very interested in finding a stable relationship with this country”.

Zanonato assured that "the relations will remain, because our large companies have an important presence in Egypt", however the recent developments in the situation could cause some repercussions.
