The Kiev court has ordered the arrest of Yulija Timoshenko, the former Ukrainian prime minister who is now leader of the opposition. The request was made by the prosecutor because Timoshenko's statements and behavior do not guarantee "compliance with procedural rules". Yulija was arrested in the courtroom, where scuffles immediately broke out. Some deputies close to her have, in fact, tried in every way to prevent the intervention of the policemen, but after a few skirmishes they were blocked by the police. Timoshenko is accused of abuse of power after she imposed on the state energy company Naftogaz an agreement with the Russian giant Gazprom for gas imports in 2009, without however asking the opinion of the government she led. The prosecution believes that the price agreed at the time, ie $450 per 1000 cubic meters, was extremely disadvantageous for Ukraine.
