Intelligent contraptions continue to grow in quantity and quality. After the smartphone or smart TV or home automation that also gives us smart refrigerators, now a "smart" air purifier has also arrived. 

It is launched by Xiaomi, the Chinese company which is now the world's third largest smartphone manufacturer. Xiaomi is diversifying its production lines, and is now also churning out routers, televisions, tablets, 'set top' boxes ... The air purifier connected to the smartphone could not be missing in a country where bad air quality is one of the problems main. 

The phone acts as a remote control, taking air quality readings and also receiving warnings about when it's time to change the filters. The purifier can supply 406 cubic meters of clean air per hour, and costs 899 yuan (118 euros). It can clean the air by eliminating 99,3% of PM 2,5 particles (less than 2,5 micrometers), which are considered to be the most harmful.
