From today until Sunday, Villa d'Este in Cernobbio will once again become the privileged observatory for exploring the scenarios of the crisis and testing the coming autumn. Great economists, bankers, entrepreneurs, European ministers and commissioners are expected from today to Sunday at the Ambrosetti workshop and everyone is wondering how Tremonti will manage.

Workshop Ambrosetti, from today all the elite in Cernobbio on the global, European and Italian crisis

From today to Sunday the thermometer of autumn and, unfortunately, of the economic and financial crisis that has lasted for four years, will once again be Villa d'Este in Cernobbio which will host the 37th edition of The European House Ambrosetti Workshop. As usual, it will be a summit of excellence between leading economists, bankers, entrepreneurs, government officials and national and international institutions. "Few times in recent history - notes Valerio De Molli, managing partner of Ambrosetti - to experience such crucial days in which sovereign risk and the euro crisis, stock market and market tensions and the civil war in Libya intertwine, giving an extraordinarily topical role to an appointment like ours in which the interest of the ruling class is very high”.

Once again, big names are expected on the shores of Lake Como and, like every year, the scenarios of the economy, finance and politics will be explored in all their aspects.

The agenda of the Ambrosetti workshop will, like every year, be divided into three parts. Today will be mainly dedicated to examining and discussing the macroeconomic scenario on the basis of speeches by leading economists such as Martin Feldstein, Nouriel Roubini, John Bolton, Mario Monti, the governor of the Bank of England Mervin King and the deputy managing director of the Monetary Fund International, the Chinese Zhu Min. However, the new political balance in the Mediterranean will also hold the stage with the speeches of the president of Israel, Shimon Peres, and the former secretary general of the Arab League, Moussa, who is now a leading candidate in the upcoming Egyptian elections .

A videoconference message from President Giorgio Napolitano is expected tomorrow and a day dedicated to Europe and the euro crisis will kick off immediately afterwards with the president of the ECB, Jean-Claude Trichet, the European commissioners Almunia and Olli Rehn, the former Spanish premier Aznar and top-level ministers such as the German Schauble and the Spanish Salgado.

Finally, on Sunday the Italian government, with all its most representative ministers, will present its ideas to the audience of academics and businessmen, among which the CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Corrado Passera and the president of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera have already announced their presence.

It goes without saying that the wait will be above all for the closing speech of the Minister of Economy, Giulio Tremonti, in the hope that he will not repeat the performance of the Rimini meeting but will be able to speak not only of Europe but above all of the economic maneuver of the Government which presented on the eve of August XNUMXth and which has been redone several times by other ministers.
