Many companies are ready to hire but cannot find candidates. There is a new emergency in the Italian production system after the pandemic and the war: it is the lack of workers with the skills that companies are looking for. This is what emerges from an all-out survey conducted by North East Foundation at companies in the Triveneto area, the results of which will be broadcast every Saturday in seven episodes, starting from 21 May and ending on 2 July.

But what are the immediate and remote reasons for an emergency that is weighing down companies and which, in the absence of innovative solutions, appears destined to weigh on companies' life and development prospects in the future? The investigation of the North East Foundation seeks and explores the causes in the Triveneto proper (Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia) but also in Emilia Romagna, i.e. in the four regions that institutionally make up the Italian north-east and which represent an area that is worth almost a quarter of the national GDP and which between 2000 and 2019 grew by almost four times that of Italy: 9,1% against 2,6 .XNUMX%.
In reality, the difficulties of the North East in seeking and finding workers with the necessary skills are common to other areas of the country and the growing "flight" of young people from the traditional workplace to seek better professional and life paths is not accidental. This is why – affirms the Nord Est Foundation – “valid proposals and solutions for the North East can have a general value”.
