Wind towards withdrawal of network transfer plan

Wind Telecomunicazioni is about to definitively withdraw the network outsourcing plan. The project had been frozen in January but the new management, led by Maximo Ibarra, had taken it into consideration again. Now on the table, according to what Radiocor learns, there is an alternative project which provides for a cut in labor costs, a sort of spending review, from 35-45 million euros.

Wind is aiming for a quick negotiation, to be closed within a few days with the union representatives. All issues that will be addressed in the meeting with the acronyms scheduled for next Monday at the Ministry of Economic Development. Wind confirms the meeting with the trade unions during which a series of topics will be discussed, including the new structure of the original "network project".

The network outsourcing plan had been developed by Wind in the spring of 2011 and two suitors were in the running to buy the 1.600 network technicians: Ericsson and Huawei. The Ministry of Economic Development therefore intervened in the match, asking Wind, at the beginning of 2012, for a moratorium of at least six months. The company had accepted the suspension of the outsourcing process and started a dialogue with the unions in the Ministry of Economic Development.
