Good results, but no spark for Wind. The telecommunications group, controlled by the Russian giant Vimpelcom, ended 2011 with a 1% growth in revenues to 5.570 million euros, Ebitda stable compared to 2010 at 2,120 million euros, also due to the increase in costs. Sales were mainly driven by landline and internet telephony, which together recorded a 3% increase. Customers increased across all business segments (+5% overall to over 21 million users). There was a 5% increase in customers in both mobile and fixed telephony, while 12% in broadband.
IThe real boom, however, was the increase in revenues from mobile Internet, which marked a +39% compared to the previous year. Fixed broadband performance was also good with revenues up 23%. Wind wanted to underline the importance of the results achieved in a "highly challenging context" like that of 2011, characterized "by strong competitive pressure and macroeconomic uncertainty, further complicated by regulatory discontinuities".
