Wimbledon, Sinner has a thrilling debut: he struggles, falls, and wins in the fifth set against Kecmanovic. Who he's playing against and when the second round kicks off.

It was a close call, but he finally made it. Wimbledon, in a debut match that was much more complicated than expected and which brought back to mind for many fans the spectre of what happened at Roland Garros, Jannik Sinner won against the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, number 50 ATP. They served five sets and a comeback both after the first and third set, the latter lost in a tie break. The final score was 4-6 6-3 6-7 6-2 6-3 for the defending champion.

Fear during the third set for the Italian, who fell to the back of the court during a point. For the rest of the match, the London cameras repeatedly focused on his blood-stained shoe, but in the end the incident was resolved without serious consequences and Sinner – despite the difficulties – managed to advance to the next round and conquer yet another record: he became the first Italian in the Open Era to reach 20 consecutive victories on debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam. Among active players, only Novak Djokovic has fared better, with 77 match wins.

Sinner's words after the match

“It's an honor to be the first player to step onto this field, I was tense, I didn't play my best. The third set was tough to get through. My right foot? As it is, it looks much worse... but it's a nail. And I didn't want to bother Miomir and waste time. It's not a blister, it's just a nail. The first matches are never easy, the third set was incredibly tough, tennis is like that: every day is different."

Sinner: When will he play his next match?

There's no time to rest or rest. Sinner will return to the field. Wednesday, July 1st and will face the Portuguese Nuno Borges, world number 53, who defeated Tristan Boyer in the first round. The time and court are still to be determined.
