Public wifi, one-time password coming soon

Innovation should also become reality in October – The new draft of the Communications decree also envisages using all the already existing network infrastructures for the installation or development of broadband.

Public wifi, one-time password coming soon

Within a few months, a single password will arrive for all public wifi: not only those of municipal or provincial administrations, but also those of state bodies and companies. The novelty is foreseen by the shortest article of the new draft of the communications decree (dated June 30st), which states that "by October 2015th XNUMX the public system for the management of the digital identity of citizens and businesses (...) it is used to access the wifi services made available by the Public Administration throughout the national territory”.

Another article in the draft plans to use all existing network infrastructure for the laying or development of broadband. The provision requires companies "that provide a physical infrastructure intended for the provision of a service of production, transport or distribution of gas, electricity, district heating, public lighting and traffic light systems, water, including sewage, waste water treatment plants and drainage systems, and transport services, including railways, roads, ports and airports, even if public or private concessionaires", to grant "access to their physical infrastructure to operators of electronic communications networks capable of providing access services to broadband at a speed of at least 30 Mb/s. Access is permitted under fair and reasonable conditions, also with regard to the price, in compliance with the rights of third parties".
